At Schulman, we offer several ways to sell your collection. Depending on the nature of your coins, we may advise sale through one of our international auctions or a direct sale. In the case of a direct sale, we make an offer based on current market prices and provide immediate payment.

Q: What is the difference between bullion and numismatics?

Bullion refers to gold or silver valued primarily for its metal content, such as gold bars or modern investment coins like the Krugerrand or Maple Leaf. Numismatics concerns coins that derive value from rarity, historical significance or collectability. A historic gold ducat or a gold ten-guilder of King William III may therefore be worth considerably more than its metal value alone.

Registering your coins is simple and discreet. You can deliver your coins in person to our gallery in Amsterdam, or contact us to discuss a suitable solution together. Transfer is also possible during coin exchanges or via an insured shipment by courier. In some cases, we make home visits, for example with larger collections. Our experts will carefully review your coins and recommend whether selling by auction or direct sale is the most appropriate. Once received, your coins will be professionally described, photographed and valued. You will receive an overview of catalogue numbers so that you can follow your documents. The auction catalogue appears online and in print approximately six weeks before the auction and is distributed worldwide to interested parties. On the auction day, you can bid in the hall, online or via our app. The proceeds will be paid out to you eight weeks after the end of the auction.
