If you are selling coins for the first time, it is hard to judge who you are dealing with. Look at three things. Is the firm a member of a recognised professional association? Is the valuation explained coin by coin rather than given as a single lump sum? And are you free to choose between a direct sale and an auction? Anyone who quotes only a final figure leaves you no way to check what that figure is based on.
